Denzil has been playing bass since 2006 – self-taught, Grade 8 certified, and
shaped by twenty years on real stages across Africa, Australia, and Europe.
Now he is passing every bit of that knowledge on to the next generation of players.
"Self-taught from day one. Grade 8 from the London College of Music by conviction alone."
Denzil picked up the bass in 2006 with no teacher, no formal lessons, and no roadmap. Just an ear that would not let him rest.
Two decades on, he holds a Grade 8 Bass Guitar certification from the London College of Music – a standard that speaks for itself.
Born in Zimbabwe, his playing spans a world most bassists never visit: RnB, Rock, and Jazz alongside Chimurenga, Sungura, Kizomba, and Afro Jazz.
That range is not a selling point. It is who he is – and it is exactly what students get access to.
Today Denzil teaches at PeterHouse Boys School and Mother Patrick Junior School, serves as Music Director on StarBrite TV,
and tours internationally with Evicted a rock band with two albums and a touring record across Africa, Australia, and Europe.
He walked the same road your student is starting. That means he teaches from lived understanding, not just theory passed down from a textbook.
RnB, Rock, Jazz, Afro, Gospel, Chimurenga - lessons are shaped around what you actually want to play, not a fixed syllabus.
Currently teaching at two established schools in Zimbabwe. Parents can trust the standard of care, structure, and instruction from day one.
Lessons available worldwide via online sessions or in person in Zimbabwe. Flexible scheduling built around your life, not a rigid timetable.
From parents choosing a tutor for their child to adults picking up the bass for the first time – here is what students and families say about learning with Denzil.
My son had zero interest in music lessons until we found Denzil. Within two months he was playing songs he actually wanted to play. The difference in his confidence has been remarkable. Denzil knows exactly how to keep a young student engaged.

The first lesson video arrived and my reaction was simple – gold dust. The recorded format is everything. I can replay it at midnight, rewind the tricky parts, and go again until it clicks. I have been practising consistently and the progress is real.
